FISHING IN THE AUDOMAROIS MARSH

Before being a simple pass time, fishing served as an essential source of food for the marsh residents.

The rivers are  today still rich in a variety of fish species. Carnivorous fish such as pike, zander, perch, and eel swim alongside white fish such as carp, tench, bream, gudgeon, bleak, and roach.

In order to fish in public areas like the canal and la Houlle or in private areas like the network of river “wateringues,” you must obtain a local fishing associtation card like “La Concorde”or “l’Union Arqoise.” which are available in every cafe and tobacco store.
