The result of merging the two cultural centers, La Comédie de l’Aa (St Omer) and Daniel Balavoine (the city of Arques), the Audomarois public cooperation establishment for live cultural entertainment, La Barcarolle, was created on April 1st of 2016.
It mainly operates out of fully equipped theaters (Salle Balavoine, Salle Vauban, Auditorium St Jean) and plays host to artists in residence at the Motte and Bailey castle. Its aim is to put on live shows across the Audomarois region in multipurpose, outdoor, religious and heritage spaces. It organizes the St Omer Jaaz Festival thoughout the city in July and will be behing a series of major events during the season : Shakespeare days, the “Choeurs dansants”, Festival 1temps6té, Quel cirque!… Which will take the form of themed tourist weekends.
