The Aire-sur-la-Lys library enjoys a stunning setting, housed – as it has been since 1891 – in the right wing at the Town Hall (1722, and listed as a Historical Monument), accessible via the Les Hallette alleyway.
It is home to a similarly remarkable collection and is custodian of the municipal archives.
Among these volumes are local constitutive and political acts, including the “Friendship Charter” of 1188. These ancient collections offer a wide range of useful resources for researchers, students and readers, who will delight in finding various reference works and rare editions.
